MSME adoption and behavior towards commercial cards
Primary research assessing micro and SOHO enterprises’ digital adaptation, financial behavior, and commercial card usage in India.

Overview: This study captures the business landscape and financial behavior of Indian micro and small office/home office enterprises, with a focus on digital payment adoption and commercial card usage.
Context: The client, a global digital payment leader, aimed to boost commercial card adoption among MSMEs which typically have limited access to formal financial services. The study assessed business outlook, credit needs, and digital adaptation post-pandemic.
Approach: Qualitative primary research through interviews covered four key MSME segments—manufacturing, professional services, trade, and others—to identify patterns in credit usage, payment methods, and awareness or usage of commercial cards.
Insights: Insights included varied digital readiness, evolving credit practices, business growth plans, and the obstacles and enablers influencing commercial card adoption, guiding tailored strategies to increase uptake.
