Overview: This study assesses skill requirements and future job demand within India’s electronics industry, including sub-sectors like semiconductors, EMS, wearables, and e-waste management.
Context: The client is committed to strengthening workforce capabilities amid rapidly changing technology and rising sector demand. It commissioned this research to guide tailored skill development initiatives.
Approach: A mixed-methods approach incorporated desk research, 28 qualitative in-depth interviews, and 180 quantitative surveys covering employers, employees, training organizations, and policymakers. The multi-stakeholder scope ensures comprehensive insights.
Insights: The study identified critical manpower needs by sub-sector, mapped technology-driven future skill demands, and highlighted existing gaps at various proficiency levels. These findings are essential for shaping targeted, effective skill development programs aligned with India’s electronics industry growth.
